Discussion Ten: Bloody Mary

Now, there are several Bloody Mary's. One, of course, being a drink which we will not discuss (your mother's can though if they really want to). The other is Queen "Bloody" Mary of England. This is quite interesting and morbid. Especially since it's not as debatable as many of our paranormal topics. However, the Bloody Mary we are discussing here is the Bloody Mary Legend.

You may have heard of this from slumber parties. Everyone goes into a dark bathroom and chants her name. If you do it just right, she will appear and scratch your eyes out. (I've never done with, but my mother did with a cousin and her cousin swears she saw red lights in the mirror). The real question is: Who is Bloody Mary? Why does she want to kill us if we chant her name? Does this really happen? Is she real?

Have fun discussing. And beware of dark bathrooms!

  1. Hey I read the story of the real 'Bloody Mary,' she was a Queen of England, daughter of King Henry VIII and I believe her mother was Spanish (her name escapes me rite now). Anyways, she was called Bloody Mary cause she was Catholic and had a lot of Protestants killed.

Haley, still in Oregon traveling :)

  2. I guess this was a pretty hard one to discuss. I think it's more for creepiness than an actual person. The "Bloody Mary" queen of England is a pretty interesting story.

Haley, I think her mother was Catherine (or a various spelling).

  3. Brenna & Jess- WE never did the bathroom thing at sleepovers, but we asked our mom and she says her friends did it. They never saw anything in the mirror though. Mom says she always went in the bathroom with the girls but never chanted and kept her eyes closed tight-just in case! (Explains why she never saw anything, duh...)

Brenna- She says the drink is pretty good too, lol. I don't think I would want to try summoning anything by chanting in a dark room. Too many bad things out there and I don't want to know any of them.

Jess- I'm with Brenna here. Maybe I'm a chicken, but if you ever watch those haunting shows or look up ouija boards on google, too many people have bad stories just from fooling around. While they may be just that--stories--I'm not wanting to take any chances! But Bloody Mary makes a great scary story to tell at sleepovers, just don't try to make me go in the bathroom and look for her...

Brenna- Yeah, I'm kinda attached to my eyes, and as for being pulled into the mirror, eeeewwww! Who wants to be in there looking out at all those people with "bedhead" in the mornings? Not me!

Jess- Told you my sister was weird!
